BCOAG Social Committee


BCOAG's Social Committee - Representing Leadership Continuity Throughout the Nation

 

BCOAG’s Social Subcommittee is responsible for executing the following charges and goals:

  • Provide an avenue for members to network and build sustained relationships outside the work setting;
  • Coordinate BCOAG sponsored events for PHS members and their families to foster interaction through activities in a social setting in their local areas;
  • Host an annual social event encouraging participation from all BCOAG members within the USPHS.

    

Social Committe Goals for 2012:

  • To help coordinate the COF Social in University of Maryland, College Park in the Washington, DC metropolitan area the week of June 19-21, 2012. The theme for the conference is "Prevention Strategies for a Healthy Nation: Building on the Basics of Public Health."  
  • To co-coordinate with activity leads from various duty stations BCOAG’s End of the Year (EOY) Social.      
  • To promote camaraderie and support within the advisory group.     
  • To plan and support social activities for BCOAG members and formally welcome new members during schedule events throughout the year.       
  • To partner with other CC organizations to increase the participation of BCOAG social events (i.e. COA, JOAG, PAG, etc.)
  • To have three social events, in the respective area where officers have volunteered to serve as activity leads, for 2012.

 

Social Lead
Are you interested in being a Social Lead in your city or region? We need your help to plan activities for Officers where you work, live and socialize.
Qualifications:

  • Must be a current and active member of BCOAG.
  • Must be enthusiastic, outgoing, detailed-oriented, organized, personable with good communication skills.
  • The Social Lead (s) will be responsible for securing social venues for locally planned events which may include, but not limited to:
      • Coordinate logistics and facility arrangements
      • Serve as the POC for the event
      • Develop agenda
      • Take the lead in drafting report of event for COA Frontline publication and other PHS newsletters
      • Encourage and recommend participation among subcommittee members to plan future events
      • Submit a written summary with pictures of the event to the Social Chair/Co-Chair within 15 days of the event.

Announcements and Events

Social events for Atlanta Area Officers will be held every other month on the 3rd Thursday of that month from 5:30 – 8:00 pm (EST).  Locations for each social will be announced via the BCOAG listserv.  Social events for other Officers will be announced during the social committee meeting and listed in the BCOAG weekly announcements.

Meetings
BCOAG Social Committee Meetings will be on the 2nd Thursday of each month from 2:00 pm- 3:00 pm EST.  The bridge line to attend these meetings is 866.712.4843 and pass code 6658378.  All members are asked to email their attendance to these meetings to LCDR Zanethia Eubanks at zae0@cdc.gov.  In order to receive a certification at the end of the year for your files, members are asked to attend at least 50% of the meetings during the calendar year.
