BCOAG Career & Professional Development Committee

 

BCOAG’s Career and Professional Development Committee shall:

  • Provide guidance and support to all BCOAG members in career development.
  • Organize the BCOAG training sections
  • Update and monitor the BCOAG mentor/mentee program
  • Monitor issues and concerns in career development/advancement

 

Committee Structure


The Career and Professional Development Committee serves as a resource to BCOAG members to help manage their careers by utilizing a Team centered approach, comprised of the following:

 

  • Career and Professional Development Team

    Serve in a resource and advisory capacity to help guide officers in their career paths by providing career development and training information

  • Mentoring Team

    Help facilitate the transition of new USPHS Commissioned Corps officers and to promote, support and guide the long-term career development of active duty officers through the Mentoring Program.   • Recruitment Team

    Assure awareness of the USPHS and its career opportunities among health professional schools and associations, provider institutions, and the public.

  • Retention Team

    Share resources to decrease the number of black commissioned officers pursuing premature retirement, rather separation from the U.S. Public Health Service Commissioned Corps by providing direct or indirect career support tools.

 

The Team goals include: sharing career development and training information; identifying opportunities for mentorship; and strengthening recruitment and retention activities.
