BCOAG Award Committee

The Black Commissioned Officers Advisory Group (BCOAG) acknowledges and grants three types of awards each year to active duty, civil servant, and retired USPHS officers. These awards are presented during the Annual USPHS Scientific and Training Symposium to African-Americans in the U.S. Public Health Service and other community health organizations who have had a substantial impact on the mission of the PHS Commissioned Corps.

  • Hildrus A. Poindexter Award
  • George I. Lythcott Award
  • Retired PHS Officer Recognition Award

The BCOAG Awards Committee shows great pride in the selection of the award recipients and encourages officers to submit a nomination package. Nominators should follow the award guidelines carefully before completing the application. The Awards Committee will conduct the award selection process and present the names of the nominees to the BCOAG Chair who will forward them to the Office of the Surgeon General for final approval.
